Digging deeper into Marketing Analytics

Marketing Analytics – a must-have skill for the modern marketer?
The first week´s lecture of Digital Marketing Analytics presented the idea that understanding Marketing Analytics is an essential skill when working as a marketer. As a postgraduate student in my second semester, this is an important matter to me. I have already started applying for jobs within the Digital Marketing field, and I have noticed that analytical thinking, as well being technically savvy with knowledge of online marketing tools, are considered crucial skills in almost every job position I have applied for. 

Data versus Creativity
As a young student, innovation and allowance of original ideas to flow freely is something that I cherish. With that being said, I do believe that Marketing decisions should be based on two balanced fundamentals; data and creativity. To empower good judgements, I think data and analytics can offer a marketer measurable material and insights, which later can be fused together to inform creative processes. This is why I find this module not only interesting, but important.

Expectations for the module
Although I undertook a similar module during my undergraduate studies at Oxford Brookes University, I expect this module to further enhance my analytical thinking and my expertise with analytical tools. To achieve this, I will be engaging with the content provided during the lectures and seminars, as well as reflecting on my own learning journey with help from this log. I am also looking to improve my analytical skills by participating in the Google Academy.
